TA PREP, NOTES LAB #3
VIDEO SHOOT
1. Hand-out with
shooting assignment will be distributed by Kelly and Marty (it's also loaded on the wiki) with a cover sheet that illustrates
some key visual concepts related to the assignment and a production
checklist. You might want to project this document for the students
while you lecture on camera assignment.
2. handout about using the camera will also be distributed.
3. Go over basic functions of the camera, and menus. When
going over video camera, demonstrate the differences and reasons for
shooting with the viewfinder and shooting with the LCD monitor - good
to shoot through viewfinder in bright situations, for example.
Turn off digital zoom effect.
4.
Students should shoot in teams of two, unless you have enough cameras
for each student to have their own. Emphasize that they shoot be
editing in-camera, and that each shot should be only ten seconds in
length.
5. Students will upload video as mpg4 in quicktime (Instructions will follow from Peter Jackson about exactly how we're dealing with the video files).
6.
Students should be sure cameras are clean and plugged in for the next
class. Stress professionalism when dealing with keeping things clean
and orderly.
Administrative business:
Make sure all students who can make the Museum trip are signed up for a slot (rosters on this wiki).
