    LAB 6:STILL PHOTO ASSIGNMENT

By the end of this lab, students should be able to do the following:

·Shoot still photos with the Sony video camera

·Download photos to their account and Identify 3 images to post to their portfolio websites.

·These images should follow the theme: “Hunter College: A Day in the Life.”

STEP ONE:Sign out a video camera to each person/team

STEP TWO:Direct them to select the still camera mode on the camera and... The cameras should be in the highest resolution (L is the best since LW which is highest is a landscape frame)

STEP THREE:Send them out for 30 minutes to capture images. Each person will take their own images for their site.Tell them that they can interpret the theme as they wish, either with specific people or a broader overview, long shots or close up details. They can either have three images that tell one specific story, or use three different images to illustrate three separate aspects of their theme.

Encourage them to use their imagination and ideas about composition, perspective and camera angle that form the subject of the previous lecture.

STEP FOUR:When they return from shooting the images they will download their photos to the desktop and view them in Preview.

STEP FIVE:They will then choose their favorite three photos and remame them with a jpg extension. The photograph name will correspond with the name they will provide in the code to appear as the caption under the photo.

STEP SIX: They then need to drag the three images to the Images folder in their Sites folder.

STEP SEVEN:In the Sites/HTML/Images folder open the images.html folder with Text Wrangler.

STEP EIGHT:Under the term “sources” in the HTML code type within the quotations marks" ../images/mypix.jpg"

STEP NINE:Also in the code, need to add the name of the photo next to the term alt.You will only need to type the name of the photograph. This is what will appear as an alternative to the photograph if there is a trouble with the connection. This is the alternative.

STEP TEN:Also in the code, type the name of the photography without jpg extension, under username.

    Have fun!
