Lab 6: In Class Video Exercise #2
In this lab students are required “define a space” by recording 8 shots on their camcorders.
We also discussed some alternative themes including: reflections, letters, city, seasons / spring, shadows, voyeurism, movement, transportation, interaction and machines.
Students will shoot in pairs or by themselves as equipment availability allows.
They should select a space outside of the classroom, write-up a shot list and take turns shooting. They should be thoughtful in how the shots juxtapose and work with one another.
Each shot should be 10 seconds or less – however this is not necessarily a requirement.
Once students have shot their clips they will return to class, download the clips to each partner’s computer, hand the SD cards to the teacher and watch the clips from a camera on the classroom’s projector.
In order to watch the clips in a row, drag clips to VLC’s media library – although you may have to go from one clip to another by clicking the forward button.
Finally, we should remind students about how we are grading their work.
* However, as I write this up, I wonder whether or not the meeting notes are available from when we talked about how we will grade student in-class assignments, blogs, etc.
